๐Ÿ“‹ Match Rules

Important

UCL follows ICC T-20 guidelines with specific modifications listed below.

Reference: ICC T-20 Guidelines

  1. No LBW Dismissal

No LBW dismissals allowed. No leg bye runs can be scored. If ball hits leg first then bat, no runs scored (deemed leg bye). Batsman can still be run out when attempting leg bye run.

  2. Bounce-based No Ball

2 or more bounces before crossing batting crease = No Ball (not Dead Ball). Decision by Leg Umpire. Results in "Free Hit" where batsman can only be dismissed by:

    • Run out
    • Hitting ball twice willfully
    • Obstructing the field

Free hit continues until bowler delivers legal delivery.

  3. Height-based No Ball

Ball above batsman's waist in normal batting position = No Ball. Batsman can only be given Run Out. Cannot be bowled out even if ball hits stumps. Results in "Free Hit".

  4. Switching Batting Sides

For LHS venues, batting ends switch at start of over 8 to reduce field wear. In Lexington, Side N faces the swimming pool.

  5. Power Play Rules

Power Play overs: Maximum 3 fielders outside Inner Circle. Violation = No Ball.

Non-Power Play overs: Minimum 3 fielders inside Inner Circle (plus wicketkeeper & bowler).

    Power Play Distribution:
    • Total: 3 overs per innings (out of 14)
    • Mandatory: Overs 1 & 8
    • Optional: Batting team chooses 3rd power play between overs 2-10
    • If not chosen by over 10, over 10 becomes automatic 3rd power play
  6. Retired Hurt

Batter can retire hurt anytime. Can return to bat only after minimum 6 other batters have batted in that innings.

  7. Chucking Policy

If bowler is blatantly chucking, batting captain may appeal. If both umpires agree: warning issued. Repeated chucking after warning = No Ball. Continued violations = bowler barred from further bowling.

  8. Equipment Regulations

Wooden Bats Only: No fiber composite, metal, or other non-wooden materials.

No Fielding Gloves: Only wicketkeeper may wear gloves (unless both captains agree due to weather). Violation = 5 penalty runs.

  9. Wide Ball Guidelines

Wide line adjusts based on batsman's position at delivery. Umpire must maintain consistency throughout match. Fielding captain may request explanation.

  10. Impact Players

Maximum 2 Impact Players per game from 15-player roster. Must list 2 potential replacements before toss. Cannot be used as Captain.

    Introduction Timing:

    • Before start of innings
    • After an over finishes
    • At fall of wicket or batsman retirement
    • If introduced mid-over, cannot bowl remaining balls

Note: Replaced player takes no further part (including as substitute fielder).
